This is a creepy story of a British doctor, also known by the name of Doctor Death whose ghost still roams in the hospital in Abbott Mount. In the Himalayan range, there are many scenic and beautiful tourist attractions.

Champavat located at Uttrakhand, India, is such a beautiful place amidst lofty mountains. This place is known for its serenity and calmness. This place is about 425 km from Delhi. Long ago when India was ruled by kings, Champavat used to be the capital of Kumaon Kingdom.

Lohaghat located in the outskirts of Champavat is surrounded by mountains. One such place over a hill is named as Abbott Mount. During the 1920s, India was ruled by the British. Mr Abbott, a British national was so impressed by the beauty and charm of this place that he built a mansion and started living with his family.

Hence the mount was named after him as Mount Abbott. A church nearby was also built subsequently, where local people and British officials posted there used to offer their prayers.

After residing for many years with his family in this mansion, In the early part of the 1930s, Mr Abbott shifts to London with his family. During his stay, he found that local people were facing hardship due to lack of proper health care facility.

They had to travel a large distance to get proper treatment. So his vision was to donate his property to a trust to run a hospital, which could cater to the treatment of local persons.

Chapter 2

Hospital was set up in the mansion of Mr Abbott. This hospital used to provide free medical treatment to locals and was managed by British doctors. Local people started visiting this hospital for treatments because the treatment and medicines were free under experienced British doctors.

The hospital became famous in no time and many more people from far and wide started visiting the hospital for medical needs. Doctors were appointed to the hospital on a transfer basis. After successfully running for six years a new doctor was appointed to the hospital named Doctor Morris.

Doctor Morris along with his family arrives in the hospital and takes charge. Doctor and his family used to live in an apartment beside the hospital. He was a very experienced and able doctor.

He achieved fame among the locals due to his accurate diagnosis and medicines. Locals even discussed that he had hands of god, as he was able to recover even serious patients and make them fit again.

Chapter 3

After a few years, Dr Morris started predicting the death of patients by providing exact date and time. Every day many patients used to visit him for treatment.

Some were serious patients, and each day Dr Morris used to predict the exact date and time of death of a serious patient. The patients unexpectedly used to die on the same date and time mentioned by the doctor.

It needs to be mentioned, after a thorough analysis of the patient, present-day doctors can provide a timeframe for patient’s death, like the patient can survive at the most for six months or a year or two. But a doctor cannot predict the exact date and time of the patient’s death.

Dr Morris started predicting about the date and time of patient’s death and to everyone’s surprise the patient used to die on the predicted date and time. Local people started discussing his skills, and how Dr Morris predictions used to match for every patient.

The hospital was located in a mountain top, during the end of 1930s; local people were generally uneducated and believed in superstitions. They believed that Dr Morris had some supernatural powers and can precisely predict the date and time of death of a patient.

Chapter 4

More than 100 such deaths were predicted by Dr Morris with precise date and time and all those deaths occurred exactly on the mentioned date and time. This unique behaviour did not receive any coverage in the media and mainly remained confined to the local people because media coverage was very limited during the late 1930s in India in such a hilly region.

After a few years Dr Morris wife dies, followed by the death of their child and about a year later Dr. Morris also dies. Locals bury the family in a graveyard just beside the church located some distance away from the hospital.

After the demise of Dr Morris, another British doctor was appointed to manage and treat local patients. He was told by the locals that Dr Morris used to predict the date and time of death of a patient and was very skilful.

The new doctor was stunned to find out how a doctor could predict the exact date and time of a patient’s death. He reported this matter to higher British authorities.

An investigation was started by the British top officials. During the investigation, it was found that among the visiting patients Dr Morris, used to predict the date of death and time of the most serious patient. After his prediction, the patient was shifted to another room.

This room was known as “Mukti Kothi” meaning the house of death. This room was under constant supervision of Dr Morris and no one was allowed to enter the room without his permission.

Chapter 5

During the investigation, it was revealed, that the patients, who were placed in the room called “Mukti Kothi”, never made it alive and only patient’s body used to come out from the room.

Later after investigation, it came to light that Dr Morris also did not know about the exact date and time of death of a patient. It was Dr Morris who was responsible for the death of over 100 such patients.

He always used to predict the death of serious patients only. After his prediction, the patient used to be shifted to the dreaded room and never came out alive. So what is the mystery of this room “Mukti Kothi” and what used to happen there?  After all the investigation it came to light that he was a very ambitious doctor and always wanted to excel in the field of medicines.

Dr Morris had many questions in his mind, like how brain functions, why two different persons think differently, how does heart function without stopping, why does heart stops beating. Questions like these made him explore more. During the late 1930s, medical science was not that advanced as it is today, hence all these questions were a mystery.

He used to take those patients in the room and unlawfully conducted medical experiments on them. He conducted his research on these patients.

The patient used to die due to his research work and on the date and time of his prediction he used to issue the death certificate of the patient. No one doubted the skills of the doctor, and hence he was able to continue his research on serious patients.

Chapter 6

Investigation revealed that his obsession of knowledge resulted in over 100 deaths. Locals started calling him Doctor Death, a serial killer who used to kill his patients to fulfil his obsession with research. Due to the fear of his prediction, locals used to visit other hospital and started avoiding this hospital for treatment.

British doctors used to visit the hospital, but local people started avoiding it. The hospital was abandoned altogether. People travelling across heard loud noise of screaming. Such sounds became frequent and the hospital gained the reputation of a haunted house.

This hospital and the adjoining church where the bodies of Dr Morris family were buried, became haunted. People have numerous encounters sighting a man standing in white clothes in the hospital. In the church, a shadow of someone roaming around is  frequently observed even today.
