Chapter 1
This is a true story, where a formal police complaint was registered against a ghost, and investigated by police. The police closed the case after investigation and submitted a report stating that they have never witnessed such a phenomenon. The report mentions the presence of paranormal forces possessing the body of a girl.
Police officers were in dilemma, how to carry out an investigation, identify and chase a ghost with the possibility of catching it. Completing the investigation, they concluded that the paranormal activities witnessed by them are not a work of any individual but a demonic spirit possessing the body of a girl.
Chasing a ghost itself sounds crazy. Is the ghost a male or female, what is its name, where can it be found, how to catch it? All such questions surrounded this investigation that went through a series of turmoil. Police had done due diligence to its investigation and recorded the witnessed paranormal activities in their official records.
This is the story of Estefania Lazaro, an 18-year-old girl born in the beautiful city of Madrid in Spain in 1973. She stayed with her family of five members in an apartment comprising her parents, a younger brother, and a younger sister. She had completed her studies and got herself admitted to a college for higher education.
Chapter 2
Estefania was a normal and soft-spoken girl, having friends and loving her family members. A few months after entering college in 1991, suddenly some drastic changes were observed in her behavior. She used to growl suddenly changing the tone of her voice; she used to behave like a snake and hissed at her younger brother and sister; she used to scratch the wooden walls of her apartments with her nails.
She continued to have such surges, and a day later, she behaved normally, as if nothing had happened. Her parents became worried and spoke to her about her sudden behavior change, but she couldn’t remember having any such surge.
Her sudden surges and changes in behavior became more frequent with time, and her parents became worried about her deteriorating health conditions. They again spoke to Estefania, and she said during the night, she views a black shadow in her room, loses control of herself, and becomes possessed by that black shadow.
Her parents observed that she was reading books on black magic and the occult. So they thought that this sudden change in her behavior must be due to reading such books. Hence they removed all such books from her room, but her aggressive behavior continued.
Chapter 3
Estefania’s parents took them to the doctor to get her examined; they took her to Father of a Church, but they all revealed that Estefania is perfect and normal. They could not find any abnormality in her behavior. Her sudden strange behavior continued to occur mainly during the night.
After six more months, their parents became worried and again consulted a doctor and admitted her to a hospital. Doctors examined her for three weeks and concluded that she was mentally perfect and did not show any symptoms of strange behavior. A day before her discharge, she suddenly collapsed in her bed and died in the hospital.
Parents were shocked, they had visited her in hospital just a day before, and she was in perfect health. Doctors in the hospital were surprised by her sudden demise. The post-mortem revealed a severe heart attack as the cause of her death.
Estefania’s parents loved her. Even after her demise, they cleaned her room every day and rearranged all the belongings that she loved, changed her bedsheet, made her room tidy, and locked her room. A week passed by without any incident.
Chapter 4
A week later as Estefania’s parents opened the door of her room to find that the items are shattered in different places. The bedsheet was lying in a corner of her room, the books all thrown out of the shelf; their daughter’s photo was hanging in opposite direction. The room was in a mess with things lying on the ground.
They thought that some child from the neighborhood made a mess of their daughter’s room. They again rearranged all her items and bed neatly and lock the room from outside. Two days later, on opening the room, they found the items scattered across the room with their daughter’s photo hanging upside down.
A few days later, they heard some unusual voices coming from her room at night. They heard the voice of their daughter crying loudly. Opening the door of the room they felt a cold breeze blowing across the room. Inspecting outside they could not feel any breeze. The cold breeze was only blowing in that room, and the items scattered across the room.
The parents decided to renovate their daughter’s room and installed new wooden walls; they again rearranged all her items and locked the door. In the night, they could hear the same voices coming from her room. They could not find anyone in the room, but the items in the room were scattered and the same nail marks on the walls of her room.
Chapter 5
Scared Estefania’s parents, decide to seal their daughter’s room by placing wooden planks in the door screwed with nuts and bolts. During the night, they could hear loud noises coming from her room as if someone was crying and praying for help.
Suddenly the nut bolts screwing the planks flings out and the door become opens. They could feel a strong cold breeze coming from inside the room; however, there was no breeze outside their house. They had never reported these activities to their neighbours due to the embarrassment of being a laughable matter as no one would believe in such stories.
Gathering much courage, Estefania’s parents spoke to their neighbours about the paranormal activities happening in their house. Neighbours told them they had also heard the voices coming from their house. Some of the neighbours thought of witnessing the events by themselves.
Neighbours stayed at Estefania’s house during the night, and witnessed the same incidents as reported by Estefania’s parents, the nut bolts of the plank sealing the door of their daughter’s room flings out and the door opens suddenly with voices and a strong breeze coming out of the room.
Chapter 6
Estefania studied in a Christen college, few teachers of the college visited Estefania’s house after her sad demise. A teacher revealed an incident that she had witnessed about seven months ago. She told that the boyfriend of Estefania’s best friend died in a bike accident, and this made her friend very sad and depressed.
One day that teacher found four girls sitting across an Ouija board at the back of the college, and Estefania was one of them. She observed from a distance that an inverted glass was placed on the board, and one by one, each girl touched the inverted glass. As soon as Estefania touched the glass, it started floating in the air.
The teacher scolded all the four girls for not attending the classes and sitting at the back of the college, and broke the Ouija board. As she broke the board, she observed that the glass placed on the board started floating in the air and that surprised her.
The teacher spoke to girls and came to know that Estefania used to read books on the occult, and she had revealed to friends that she could talk to the spirit of the dead. On the insistence of her friend who had lost her boyfriend, Estefania was performing the calling of spirit using the Ouija board.
Chapter 7
As the teacher was speaking to the four girls, she observed that suddenly a thick white smoke appeared and entered Estefania’s body through her nose. The teacher became afraid, and she warned the girls not to perform such occult acts in the college and concentrate on their studies.
On hearing the teacher’s narration, Estefania’s parents could co-relate that the sudden change in her behaviour started occurring during that period, where she would scream with a change in her voice and would act like a snake and hissed, at her younger brother.
On hearing the incident from the teacher, Estefania’s parents opened her room, to find that the items in the room were scattered. The statue of Jesus was facing the wall; the photo frame of Estefania was lying upside down on the floor.
As Estefania’s mother lifted her photo frame, she was shocked and threw the frame down immediately. As Estefania’s father lifted the frame he noticed that the photo inside the frame burning without any traces of fire on the outside of the wooden frame.
Chapter 8
Estefania’s parents were convinced that Estefania’s spirit was roaming in the room. The next day they called a plumber and sealed the door of her room permanently with heavy furniture stacked placed against the door. That night suddenly the voices coming from the room became harsher with the blowing of heavy breeze.
The nut bolts that sealed the door fling off with the heavy furniture that was stacked against the door thrown to a distance, and the door opened. This scared Estefania’s parents, and they started planning to move out of this apartment. The next night a strange and weird incident happened.
Estefania’s parents were sleeping in their room when suddenly her mother realized that someone was sitting on her top and trying to choke her. She felt the heaviness of the person as she tried to free herself from the clutches of that person.
This commotion woke Estefania’s father, and he switched on the lights to find no one, her mother felt as if suddenly a heavy object was lifted from her. She gasped for her breath but became very scared. They had not reported these incidents to police before as they thought that police would not believe their suffering.
Chapter 9
That day Estefania’s mother was so scared that she called the police station at 2.45 AM just after the incident. The police chief along with five other team members, reach their house at around 3 AM and the parents narrate the entire incident they had experienced.
The officers investigated Estefania’s room only to find items scattered across the room and a strong cold breeze blowing across the room. They opened the only window present in her room to find the outside weather was pleasant enough without any wind.
The police officers analyzed that there was something wrong in that room. The next day the police team arrived in Estefania’s apartment and asked all the questions related to Estefania and her strange behaviour. They wanted to witness the reported incidents happening in their apartment, so they waited in the apartment till the night.
Estefania’s father told police officers that their younger son and daughter sleep in another room, in the night, someone lifts his son and tosses him to the left side bed, and again tosses him back to his bed.
Chapter 10
In the night police team was surprised to witness, their younger son being tossed across the beds. They could hear screams coming from Estefania’s room. They could hear the items inside the room were getting flung off. The planks, nut-bolts that sealed the room flew away, and the door opened suddenly with a strong cold wind blowing in the room.
The officers were shocked after witnessing such paranormal activities. Gathering the details, they return to their office and submit a detailed report including the witnessed events. The media interviewed these policemen, and they narrated to them the witnessed incidents in that apartment.
Police proceeded with the investigation to find any other angles related to enmity between relatives, but they failed to establish any connections of the paranormal activities that were happening at that apartment. Concluding the investigation, the police chief advised Estefania’s parents to leave this apartment.
Estefania’s parents were already planning about leaving the apartment due to the daily paranormal activities happening there, and a few days later, they left the apartment. The police team watched the apartment for a few more days, but the paranormal activities were not witnessed again. A Spanish movie by the name of Veronica was released in the year 2017, inspired by the true story of Estefania Lazaro.
