About Venues

Tokyo, the capital of Japan has been gearing up and preparing to host Olympics 2020 since the day it was selected as the host city. Athletes from 143 countries will be participating in Olympics 2020 and competing against each other in 339 events encompassing 50 disciplines.

A total of about 32 different sporting arena spread across the city have been either renovated or newly constructed to host different events during Olympics 2020.

Olympics 2020 is rescheduled due to COVID-19 pandemic. These are the venues where the events of the game will be hosted.

National Stadium: This is a multi-purpose stadium situated in Shinjuku, Tokyo  that will be used for the opening and closing ceremonies of Olympics 2020 along with Athletics events and Football matches. The stadium has a seating capacity of about 68,000 people.

Yoyogi National Stadium: Yoyogi National Stadium is situated in Shibuya, Tokyo. Having a Seating capacity of about 13,300 people, this stadium will be hosting the Handball events in Olympics 2020.

Ryōgoku Kokugikan: Popularly known as Kokugikan arena is situated in Sumida, Tokyo. This is an indoor sporting arena designed for sumo wrestling. The venue will be the host for all the Boxing events in Olympics 2020. About 11,100 people can watch the games in this arena.

Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium: This sporting facility is situated in Shibuya, Tokyo. Accommodating around 10,000 people, this indoor stadium will be hosting Table Tennis events in Olympics 2020.

Nippon Budokan: This sporting arena is situated in Chiyoda, Tokyo. An indoor arena that will be hosting Judo and Karate events in Olympics 2020. This arena has a seating capacity of around 14,500 people.

Baji Koen Equestrian Park: This park is situated in Setagaya, Tokyo. Venue for Equestrian events that includes Dressage, Eventing and Jumping in Olympics 2020. This park has a seating capacity of about 9,000 people.

Ariake Gymnastics Centre: Ariake Gymnastics Arena is situated in Odaiba, Tokyo. This temporary sporting centre will be hosting all the Gymnastics events that include Artistic, Rhythmic and Trampoline Gymnastics. This sporting centre has a seating capacity of about 12,000 people.

Enoshima Yacht Harbour: Enoshima harbour is situated in Fujisawa, Tokyo and is the first harbour capable of hosting water sports events in Japan. This will host Sailing events in Olympics 2020 and has a seating capacity of about 10,000 people.

Izu Velodrome: Izu Velodrome is situated in Shizuoka, Tokyo and is the venue for Cycling events in Olympics 2020. An Indoor stadium that houses 250m of wooden cycling track and has a seating capacity of about 5,000 people.

Ariake Urban Sports Park: Ariake Urban Sports Park is situated in Ariake, Tokyo besides the water park area. This park has a seating capacity of around 6,000 and will be the host for Skateboarding and BMX cycling events that includes BMX freestyle cycling and BMX racing in Olympics 2020.

Oi Hockey Stadium: Oi Hockey Stadium is situated in Oi Pier Ocean Park, Tokyo. Laid with blue multi-weather turf, this stadium can accommodate around 15,000 people and will be used for field Hockey in Olympics 2020.

Sea Forest Waterway: Sea Forest Waterway is about 6ft deep and has lanes that are about 12.5 meters each situated in Aomi, Koto-ku, Tokyo. This waterway will host the Rowing events and canoeing sprint event in Olympics 2020 and has a seating capacity of about 20,000 people.

Camp Asaka Shooting Range: Asaka shooting range is situated in Saitama, Tokyo. Having a seating capacity of about 3,200 people this range is the host for all the shooting events in Olympics 2020.

Makuhari Messe: Makuhari Messe is situated in Chiba city on the outskirts of Tokyo. This venue will play host to Fencing, Taekwondo as well as Wrestling events in Olympics 2020. It has a seating capacity of about 6,000 people.

Izu Mountain Bike Park: Izu MTB Course is an of road course situated in Izu city. Measuring upto 2,500 meters with an elevation of 85 meters. This venue will be host to Mountain Bike event of Cycling in Olympics 2020 and has a seating capacity of about 11,500 people.

Kasumigaseki Country Club: Kasumigaseki Country Club is a private golf club situated in Kawagoe, Tokyo. This club has a seating capacity of 30,000 and will be the host for Golf events in Olympics 2020.

Tatsumi International Swimming Center: Tatsumi International Swimming Center spacious swimming center situated in Koto, Tokyo, will host the water polo event in Olympics 2020. Seating capacity of this swimming center is about 3,600 people.

Ariake Coliseum: Ariake Coliseum is situated in Ariake, Tokyo. This is an indoor sporting facility surrounded by rich greenery and can accommodate around 10,000 people. There are many courts in this arena but the center court has a seating capacity of around 10,000. This sporting facility will be hosting the tennis matches during Olympics 2020.

Odaiba Marine Park: Odaiba Marine Park is situated in near odaiba beach, Tokyo and offers a stunning view of Tokyo’s landscape and rainbow bridge. This park will be the host for Triathlon and marathon swimming in Olympics 2020 with a seating capacity of about 5,000 people.

Saitama Super Arena: Saitama Super Arena is a multipurpose indoor stadium in Saitama, Tokyo. This stadium will be the venue for Basketball events in Olympics 2020 with a seating capacity of about 22,000 people.

Aomi Urban Sports Venue: Aomi Urban Sports Venue is situated in Aomi near Tokyo bay, and is a temporary venue that will host 3X3 basketball as well as Sports climbing events in Olympics 2020 with a seating capacity of about 5,000 people.

Yumenoshima Park: Yumenoshima Park is situated in Koto in the park area of dream island site, Tokyo. This park has a seating capacity of 7,000 people and will be hosting the archery event in Olympics 2020.

Tokyo International Forum: Tokyo International Forum is situated in Yurakucho, Tokyo and is a multipurpose exhibition arena. This arena will host all the Weightlifting events in Olympics 2020 and can accommodate around 5,000 people.

Kasai Rinkai Park: Kasai Rinkai Park is a beautiful park, that has been modified for the games. Situated in Edogawa,Tokyo , Canoe Slalom course is first such manmade course and will host Canoeing(Slalom) event in Olympics 2020. About 8,000 spectators can watch the event.

Tokyo Aquatics Centre: Tokyo Aquatics Centre is situated in Tatsumi-no-Mori Seaside Park, Tokyo. This will be the centre for all the aquatics events like swimming, diving and artistic swimming in Olympics 2020.This stadium can accommodate around 15,000 people.

Ariake Arena: Ariake Arena is a newly build arena situated in Ariaka, Tokyo. Having a seating capacity for about 12,000 persons this arena will host the Volleyball event in Olympics 2020.

Musashinonomori Park: Musashinonomori Park  situated in Asahicho, Tokyo. This beautiful park is full of greenery and water bodies. This park will be the host for Cycling road race as the start line. People can watch the race from the sidelines of the road.

Yokohama Stadium: Yokohama Stadium situated in Yokohama. This stadium is the venue of Baseball and Softball events in Olympics 2020. This colorful stadium has seating capacity of about 30,000 people.

Tsurigasaki Surfing Beach: Tsurigasaki Surfing Beach situated in Ichinomiya town on Chiba, Tokyo. This beach attracts lot of surfers due to the nature of waves and provides a great view of pacific coastline. Surfing event will be hosted by this beach in Olympics 2020 and will make debut this year for the first time.
